Not Impossible

It is not impossible for a local authority to help a seaside town promote its tourist industry through literary connections. Llandudno has several statues to remind the public that Lewis Carroll spent many holidays in the town. Click through for some links.

Click here for a photograph of Alice.

Here for the White Rabbit.

And here for the Mad Hatter.

Now, I'm not sure if a statue of a hobbit would necessarily suite Lyme Regis but the most famous link between many authors and the town is The Three Cups Hotel. So, the best thing that Lyme Regis Town Council and West Dorset District Council could do to encourage tourists to bring their business to the area would be to assist those who would like to re-open it AS A HOTEL.

That should be possible, if not before breakfast, at least in the very near future. There have been expressions of interest from hoteliers in taking on this national treasure of a building. West Dorset District Council should use its powers for the good of the people of the area and the wider public who would love to see The Three Cups preserved and spend money to stay there.
